Check your child's homework!!!!

When asked to draw a picture of what they wanted to be when they grew up, second-grader "Sarah" turned in the lovely drawing shown below. Needless to say, the teacher was a bit surprised -- Mrs. Smith had always seemed like such a conservative woman. So she sent a note home to the girl's mother asking for clarification as to the picture's meaning. (read Mom's reply below the picture)

(Here's the reply the teacher received the following day)
Dear Mrs. Jones,I wish to clarify that I am not now, nor have I ever been, an exotic dancer. I work at Home Depot and I told my daughter how hectic it was last week before the blizzard hit. I told her we sold out every single shovel we had, and then I found one more in the back room, and that several people were fighting over who would get it. Her picture doesn't show me dancing around a pole. It's supposed to depict me selling the last snow shovel we had at Home Depot. From now on I will remember to check her homework more thoroughly before she turns it in.Sincerely,Mrs. Smith

On a -7 degree day....

You Are Chicken Noodle Soup

You are a traditional and conservative person. You value the past, and change frightens you.

You are very loyal, especially to your family. You prefer a low-key life, with lots of time spent at home.

You like soup because it's easy, quick, and cheap.

You tend to have a favorite soup you stick to. Why change a good thing?

Thanks, Yarnie Tails!!! Till next time, yinz chilly guys.......

GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...so bring it on Ravens!!!!! Third time is charm!!! And thanks to VIK, I was able to use my limited knitting abilities and create this Steeler Korknisse! How cute is he????

And no female Steeler fan is complete with her very own set of Steeler fingernails!!! I love these!!! (they are mine...acrylic mine anyway!)

We only left the house this weekend to go to church so Sweetie Man and I just enjoyed staying in on Saturday and Sunday, he making dessert empanadas (empanadas with his own concoctions inside like "banana nut" and "chocolate pineapple" fillings) and me crafting. I did alot of cross stitching getting a good headstart on these Just Another Button Company teapot patterns from 2008. Check out all the months HERE. Okay, I told my yahoo group I wasn't going to do a month by month, but these little guys are just so cute and they have a bunch of buttons on them when completed. There is even a noah's ark teapot for one of the months with little button animals. This one is going to be a snowman for January.

Going back to the Korknisse ornies...this one was my first attempt. They are rather little working on #3 dpns but I thought they made good use of wine corks and I'm all for recycling even if it means I have to drink more wine just to get the corks...woo-hoo!!! If you want to make your own, check out the pattern HERE.

I can't show you what I was also crocheting this month yet but I have been working on and off this afghan which I showed a long while back...I'm about half way done with it. Don't you just love the colors in this?????? It's called the RAINBOW WAVES AFGHAN and the pattern is HERE!

I don't think I ever showed this completed ornie from Christmas. I had cross stitched an ornie for each of my dogs and my cat from the Brittercup collection. So, when my son and DIL brought in their chocolate lab (my grand-dog), I just had to make one for him. I used brown instead of the usual black as you can see.

See, I told you I was doing alot of stuff this weekend. My laundry is still in the dryer but what a great weekend I had. I really needed a weekend where I just did a bunch of crafting....we didn't get the 3-6 inches of snow we were supposed to get but hey, I don't have to dig out my car like some of yinz guys so I'm a happy camper. With that said, stay warm.....and have sweet thoughts of Steeler victories, yinz guys.....till next time!

Saw this over at Good Yarns! I cheated a bit on this one as it kept telling me I was athletic and wanted to climb mountains and surf the biggest wave...yeah RIGHT!!!

You Are a Maine Coon Cat

You tend to be loving and playful around your family and friends.

But when you're around strangers you tend to be a bit reserved.

You are intuitive. You understand human emotions well.

You do best when you are around people. You don't like being left alone.

Till next time, yinz crazy CATS!!

Resolutions for 2009....

Well, it's officially a New Year!!! Did I make resolutions? Yep! Now if I tell you then I'm held to them or else yinz guys will say I'm a failure! Ah, what the heck...I'll tell ya anyway...

1. Get to work on time. This is a tough one for me as I'm known as the late one. Sure, I get up early enough...early enough for two people to be on time for work but for some reason I just don't do it. Anyway, my motto, hanging in my office is "it' sure makes for a long day when you get to work ontime." (maybe I should take that down!) Just for the record, I got to work on Friday at 8:59 am...day one...a success!

2. Read more. If you look at any past post pics, you will see the library of books I own. I love books...I love the feel of books (which is probably why I don't own a Kindle...plus they cost boo-coo bucks!) Coffee and books are even better...thinking about installing a coffee corner in my diningroom/library (just kidding Glenn!) But unfortunately I acquire more books than I read at any given time! I do manage to read a little everyday but I want to increase that! For the record, if you read too, please check my links to Paperback Swap and Shelfari...two great sites for readers!

3. Lose Weight.....Okay, let's make this one, get healthy! Tho I lost for my wedding last year....the doc said half came back! My problem is that I eat when I'm happy....and I'm freakin' always happy!!!

4. Finish WIP's......I love to craft but have so many "works-in-progress" (for you non-crafters)! This resolution could be coupled with no procrastinating! As some of my WIP's include cleaning up our cellar (aka basement....for non-Pittsburghers), blogging more...etc...

5. Grow in my Faith.....this one is on a little more serious note. Growing in my faith will cover all the other things I need to do in my life....sorta a domino effect. Growing in my faith will bring me closer to God and what He needs for me to do in this world.....kinder to friends and family...no gossiping or listening to it.....listening ear.....a closed mouth (except when I'm happy and eat....see resolution #3) and just a closer walk with God in general!

Okay...now you know it!!! I've revealed to you my goals for 2009!!! Feel free to call me on any of them when I rant and rave about things!!! (and I will!) Hey as a start...check out my Book Blog cause I've posted a new read I just finished....I'll keep you updated on those reviews...hopefully they will be often!

Well, enjoy your weekend.....and this brand new year....till next time, yinz crazy guys!!

Just relaxin....

Hope everyone is enjoying a nice relaxing Christmas Holiday like we are. We are just spending our time eating, napping, eating, visiting friends, eating, playing games, did I say eating???? Anyway, it's been a fun time! Our Christmas Eve started off with a wonderful Christmas service at our church, however, the 300 luminaries we prepared were a bust as it rained ALOT! Oh, well, no need to prepare them for next year!
Christmas morning the Sweetie Man and I prepared a breakfast for my son and DIL then proceeded to open gifts....as you can see, Nintendo DS was the big gift along with all sorts of games!

And I waited till Christmas morning to open my Secret Santa gift from Barb in my Yahoo Cross Stitch Group! Oh, I loved this!!! Thanks again, Barb!

Plus I personnally recieved some great gifts including gift cards to my favorite craft and book stores and an awesome new purse. I loved everything!
Contrary to popular belief, I can bake (just not cook very well!)so we had cookies (pic is a little fuzzy)to munch on all day till a delicious chicken dinner from the Sweetie Man, head chef in this house!

Oh, and I wanted to show off this memory bear I was sorta commissioned to make for a friend of mine. Her husband's uncle passed away this past year and this was made from the golf shirts/sweaters. Not too bad for a first attempt...

So, that's about all going on at this end of the world. Doing some stitching and finishing off a special gift for a special little man in our world....so it's back to the needle and thread for me now! Hope your relaxing and enjoying the holidays too...till next time, yinz crazy guys.....

Some finishes...

...and you think I don't do anything!!! Well, I actually finished some things I've been working on. First is my ornament tree. It's been in pieces since Sweetie Man did the cutting and drilled the holes for me. Since I finally have some ornies to hang on it, I finish it with a little glue, paint, and some crackling to give it a weathered look. I really love it and plan on leaving it up all year round...now all I have to do is complete some seasonal ornies for it.

This is a little scissor fob I did from beads for a Secret Santa gift. These are so easy and you can find tutorials on the web for them. Not to mention fun to make for a cute little gift.

Sweetie Man doesn't always understand that what I am making is not always for him....

This actually belonged to Goose and Duck for their monthly outfits. The elf outfit I had to rig up myself as I didn't have a pattern for it....not too bad I thought!
Sorry, Sweetie Man, the hat just wasn't you....

So, that's it for now...back to Christmas gift making. A few more to finish and I'm calling it quits....not really...I'll find something else to make....I always do.
Till next time yinz crazy elves.....

IT'S A MY BIRTHDAY TOO!!!!!

That's right, yinz guys....today I turn the big 52!!! I've been blessed beyond belief with a wonderful new husband and a brand new daughter-in-law, good health and life for the most part is pretty darn good! And I thank an Awesome God for it all! Oh, and I can't forget all my cyber friends out there! So, have drink on me....even if it is just a glass of water!!! Cause as the little boy says in that old I LOVE LUCY episode...."IT'S A MY BIRTHDAY TOO!!!!"
Till next time, yinz crazy guys.....

Return of the Girls....

Well, now that yinz guys had time to get over the shock of my dog eating my homemade pumpkin pie, I thought it would be time to move on.
First off...The Girls have returned! I've made these Wacky metal ladies before and was "commissioned" by my sister to make more. Seven more to be exact but I made nine. They are cute and fun to make out of roof flashing tin. The little purses read, "Put on your big girl panties and deal with it!"

These next two pics I wasn't able to show until I was sure they were recieved by my great nephew and his mom and dad. All his statistics (name, birth, etc...) are stitched below the penquins. It's a Brittercup design but I left out one of the penquins as they only have one little boy....so far! (hint-hint!)

The next is a stitched card I made for him. Inside I made a place for a gift card.

With the Thanksgiving Holiday now in the past, Sweetie Man and I last Saturday had a little home feast just for us and my son and DIL in our newly painted and remodeled diningroom. It was so nice....

And need I say anything about this meal. Sweetie Man did it all on his own....he's a fabulous cook. Does it get any better than Cornish Hen???? We did manage to have ANOTHER pumpkin pie for dessert that I baked that morning.

So, now it's off to get some stitching done for the Christmas holidays. Till next time, yinz crazy guys....

FACT or FICTION....

FACT....given the opportunity, a Mastif/Lab can devour an entire freshly baked pumpkin pie (or at least 3/4 of it) without whipped topping......and will have no guilt feelings afterwards!
That's all I have to say.....now I'm off to the store to buy more canned pumpkin!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING......

......from GOOSE, DUCK,
and ME!
Have a wonderful day, yinz guys......

Look closely....

Okay, picture this....I walk downstairs very early this morning only to find this black thing on my newly painted livingroom walls. (the above is not MY picture by the way....I really didn't think to take out my camera at 7:15 am in the morning, but this is the best and closest pic I could find) Three dogs are prancing around and the above is not moving...mmmm...what could this be? Thoughts: Eros the mastif has done the ultimate in slinging slim except this looks like dog poop....a large moth maybe? Well, I get the dogs out then decide to wake up my son and DIL. Of course the wonderful DIL comes down to brave the thing on my wall whilst the son says, "give me a few minutes." THERE IS SOMETHING ALIEN ON MY WALL AND HE WANTS ME TO GIVE HIM A FEW MINUTES!!!!!!?????
Okay, so my DIL and I venture back downstairs to look at this thing (approx 3-4 inches in length by the way). Her thoughts: Slug...a very very big slug???? (get the salt...a lot of salt)
Then we came to the conclusion that it was....yep....A BAT!!!! Three dogs jumping around the livingroom and this bat didn't budge! Dead or sleeping...not to mention, how the heck did it get in the house without anyone noticing....including the ever-observant, ever-curious dogs?????
Finally my son ventures downstairs and we tell him this is his big opportunity to show his manhood! WRONG!!! To make a long story short and after many attempts with all three of us climbing a ladder to get near enough to it to trap it under a bucket (only to climb back down saying, "you do it!"....talk about comedy)....I finally got brave and trapped it under the bucket while my son slid cardboard underneath so it was trapped and could be safely released...which he did by tossing the bucket into the neighbor's yard so it could fly out and away....which it did safely for all you bat fans.
We all then went into the kitchen and talked about who was braver while they helped me get the crockpot on for Pizza Soup for tonight's dinner. Not to mention we have no idea how it got in the house...no fireplace and it wasn't there when we went to bed. The kids then went back to bed...I got ready and went to work. Needless to say, it was another exciting morning in the 'burgh! I only wish the bat could have waited one more day till Sweetie Man was home! Till next time.....yinz crazy bats!

Two crazy stitchers....

Well, Kathie sent me pics of our visit at Barnes and Noble on Saturday....the one where we planned on stitching for a couple of hours but ended up talking instead. This first one is your classic, "take a picture of yourself holding the camera out in front of you!" I personally love these kind and I think it turned out well...

The second, Kathie asked her daughter Lizzie to take it....pretty good pic too I think!
I'm hoping we can meet up again....and maybe this time actually stitch a bit.

Kathie also tagged me to share 6 random things about myself! So here goes....
The rules are as follows:

1. Link to the person who tagged you.

2. Post the rules on your blog.

3. Write six random things about yourself.

4. Tag six people at the end of your post.

5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

6. Let the tagger know your entry is up.

Whew...
1. I love spiders. I rescue stranded spiders. I talk to spiders. I've considered having a pet trantuala. Enough said on that subject.

2. I hate to drive...anywhere! I don't consider myself a good driver and I get confused easily on the road. I am a very very courteous driver. (unlike some people I drive with and you know who you are!) I have never driven more than 1 1/2 hours in the driver's seat....I actually get sleepy driving so I just don't do it for very long......20 minute trips tops.

3. I'm high maintenance emotionally.....I need attention! I could live in a tent wearing a sack but if my husband takes care of my emotional needs, (phone calls, I love you's, hugs..etc...)I'll be happy as a lark.

4. Sweetie Man and I met online about 9 years ago (just got married this past April as you know) when there was probably only one chat room on the internet.....and before the onset of predators. I actually didn't want to chat with him as (1) I thought he was too intelligent and I just wanted to goof around in the various rooms with people and (2) he lived too close to me...one state away. I wanted to talk with people on the other side of the world. But things happen for a reason....and I have no doubt in my mind that he and I were meant to be...true soulmates.

5. I love to laugh...I love to make others laugh.....people say they can hear me coming by my laugh! I think I have a quick sense of humor as does Sweetie Man...we laugh all the time...I'm talking good hardy laughs.

6. I'm a "redder-upper" (Pittsburgh term)....there can be dust everywhere, but I want everything in it's place...or at least where no one will see it. (don't look in my closets, tho!)

Now it's your turn, mmmm, let's see, whom shall I tag.....
CASSIE, TINA, BRENDA, HEIDI, OLLIE, and FROGGIE

You're IT, yinz crazy guys.....!
