Just so yinz guys don't think I'm a "meany"......let me clarify my last post. I don't think it was about Sanjaya himself. He was a cute kid who I thought was good in the beginning and had potential. I was more upset about the people who were leading the "vote for the worst singer" websites and the Howard Sterns of the world (should be How-weird!) who were making fun of him, encouraging people to vote for the worst singer and in turn keeping good singers from progressing. (and my gut feeling was that Sanjaya knew what was going on as the show continued because he too would go a little off the wall some weeks) The one week he sang good, I was actually happy for him cause it showed that he possibly was no longer part of the "worst singer" conspiracy. I would have loved to see him sing good and "make the little girls cry" as he did a couple of weeks. So, I didn't dislike him.....and I can't believe him and his family didn't believe they were doing nothing but making fun of him....it was sad. I don't like to see that. Now that he's gone, there won't be anymore "making fun of"....we don't need to be teaching our kids that sorta stuff. I wish him the best of luck and don't worry...he'll get a record deal! (I'm rambling here, arent' I....I think I have too much time on my hands!) Till tomorrow....yinz crazy guys...

I completely know what you mean. I actually boycotted the show for the last few weeks. I said, when that kid goes, I'll start watching it again. Nothing against him personally, I just felt that the whole "vote for the worst" campain was not right and as long as that kid, who should have been out of there before several others, was still around, I couldn't watch the show. It drove me nuts. I'm sure he is a sweet kid and everything...but honestly, I would never buy his album.
I understand what you're saying, Lucy. I actually thought he was pretty good in the try-outs and he definately has potential but he's not there yet for sure. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him!
Oh, and by the way...You posted comment about wanting to possibly start a square afghan like i had made....I HIGHLY recommend it! It was a hugely fun project to make and it gives you so much freedom with colors, etc. I just go wild with every 6" square pattern i can find in not too loud colors. People see mine and say...they'd never have the patience to make that but I was sad to see it end! :(
I agree.. PPL can be really mean. I am glad to see him go. Though I am not a real Idol watcher.
Oh, I didnt know about the conspiracy... I'm glad the rest of the contestants can now have a real singing contest.
Sanjaya, himself, said that he didn't live up to the potential that that judges saw in him during the try-outs. He has no hard feelings. However, I agree that it's best that he's gone since the voting got so off course. He's a sweet kid though. I wish him well.
I don't watch (I'm not even sure we get it here TBH) but I'd still back you and your views purely because I know how these types of shows 'get to you'. I'm a hooge Big Brother fan and our new series starts next month (Whoo HOOOOOOO! I'm excited! Hee!) and I know I'll have STRONG feelings on the people on the show and most of the time it won't be good, lol. I'm sure they're lovely people in real life but they'll just rub me up the wrong way I expect and I'll HAVE to vent about just how much! lol.
Roll on next month.............
Lucy I hope it wasn't because of my comment! I don't watch American Idol but I happened to glance at a clip of that little girl crying because of Sanjaya and it reminded me (benign amusement) of my pre-teen daughter and the Backstreet Boy's Brian Littrel(sp). I remember when he got married and my daughter was so MAD! lol My poor husband went to at least 5 BSB concerts. Not to mention Britney, Christina and InSnyc. I think a lot of people feel the way that you do.
